The Albert(Detroit)
The Albert, formally the Griswold Building, named after architect Albert Kahn, located at 1214 Griswold Street in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.〔
==History==
The Griswold Building was built in 1929 as an office building,〔(Griswold Building ) from Woodward Avenue.〕 on the former site of the ''Miles Theatre'', and was later converted to residential use.〔 P. 76.〕
The Albert is nearing a complete renovation, as of September 2014, of all 127 apartments in the Capitol Park area of downtown Detroit. The renovation converted the building’s HUD Section-8 senior housing to market-rate apartments. Additionally there will be 14,000 square feet of retail space on the building’s first floor.
